Greenspoint accident and injury lawyer
Greenspoint sits where I-45 North crosses Beltway 8, a few miles west of Bush Intercontinental. It is a neighborhood of apartments, bus riders and freeway frontage roads, with a police division of its own and a city line that runs close by.

Where I-45 meets the Beltway
Greenspoint grew up around the interchange of I-45 North and Beltway 8, the Sam Houston Tollway. The City of Houston’s own profile says the area takes its name from the shopping mall at its center, that office development and the 1969 opening of Intercontinental Airport brought a wave of apartment building, and that apartments now dominate much of the landscape.
That mix explains the crashes we hear about. Freeway and tollway traffic comes off the ramps onto frontage roads, then onto Greens Road, Imperial Valley Drive and Aldine Bender, which are lined with apartment complexes, bus stops and shopping centers. The Hardy Toll Road runs along the east side, and the airport is a short drive beyond it.
Who writes the crash report in Greenspoint?
Most of Greenspoint is inside Houston city limits. Since January 2018 it has been patrolled by HPD’s North Belt Division, which the department created from beats that used to belong to three other divisions. North Belt covers Greenspoint, Willowbrook and the communities around Bush Intercontinental, and works out of the North Belt station at 100 Glenborough.
Not every block nearby is in the city, though. Some neighborhoods around Greenspoint are unincorporated Harris County, where the Harris County Sheriff’s Office answers the call. A crash on the freeway or tollway main lanes may be worked by yet another agency. The agency name and case number on the paper the officer hands you tell us where to look. We get the report for you; here is how crash reports work in the Houston area.
Does the City of Houston 90-day deadline apply?
Only if a government was involved, and then it depends on which one. If a city truck, a police car or a city employee on the job caused the crash inside city limits, the City of Houston requires sworn written notice within 90 days. If the vehicle belonged to Harris County, state law gives the county the right to written notice within six months (Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 101.101). A METRO bus is also a government vehicle with a six-month notice requirement.
The Texas Tort Claims Act also limits what a government pays: up to $250,000 per person for a city, and up to $100,000 per person for a county such as Harris County (§ 101.023). Every other claim, against a private driver or company, has the ordinary two years to file suit (§ 16.003). We check which rule applies at the start and send any notice ourselves.
Bus riders and people on foot
A lot of people in Greenspoint get around without a car. The North Houston District notes that many residents rely on the bus. The Greenspoint Transit Center is where seven local, express and shuttle lines meet, with buses staging along Greenspoint Drive around the clock and, according to a 2020 study, more than 1,800 boardings on a weekday. Route 6 Jensen/Greens runs from there to downtown, and route 56 Airline/Montrose runs south through Northline to the Texas Medical Center.
The roads have not always been built for walking. METRO’s $4 million BOOST 56 project is adding sidewalks, safer crossings, ramps and lighted shelters along Aldine Bender, Imperial Valley, Northchase, Greens Road and Benmar. In 2024 the district and Harris County Precinct 2 widened the sidewalk on Airline Drive between West Road and Aldine Bender from six feet to ten because of heavy foot traffic.
When a driver hits someone walking to a bus stop, the driver’s insurer often looks for a way to blame the person on foot. Texas reduces a recovery by your share of fault and bars it above 50% (CPRC chapter 33), so the evidence matters early. Your own auto policy, or one in your household, may also help, even though you were walking. More in hit by a car as a pedestrian.
From a mall to an industrial park
Greenspoint is changing. Demolition of the former Greenspoint Mall began in October 2026 to make way for CityNorth Industrial Park, a $150 million project on about 80 acres at 12300 North Freeway. Plans call for 1.2 million square feet of logistics, distribution and manufacturing space, with the first phase expected in early 2028. That kind of space brings tractor-trailers and delivery trucks onto roads already shared with buses and pedestrians.
A crash with a commercial truck is a different case from a car crash. Federal safety rules apply to the driver and the company, more than one business can share responsibility, and the evidence — electronic logs, engine data, dashcam video — is kept only for a short time. We send a demand to preserve it right away. See why truck evidence disappears.
Hospitals and medical bills
Harris Health’s LBJ Hospital in northeast Houston is a Level III trauma center; the most serious injuries often go to Ben Taub Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, a Level I trauma center. EMS decides where to take you based on your injuries. Wherever you are treated, keep every follow-up appointment, and tell us if you have no health insurance. There are ways to get care while the case is pending.
In Spanish, directly with Jimmy
About 72% of Greater Greenspoint residents are Hispanic, according to the city’s figures from the 2020–2024 American Community Survey, and about one in five is Black. Jimmy Suerken is Mexican-American, grew up in El Paso, and handles cases in English or Spanish himself. You talk with him directly, by phone, text, email or video call, and in person when needed.
We never ask about immigration status, and your right to compensation for an injury in Texas does not depend on it. Once you hire us, you don’t talk to the insurance companies, the trucking company, METRO or the city. We do.
Your next steps
Get medical care and follow through
Go to the ER or your doctor, tell them everything that hurts, and keep every follow-up appointment.
Write down exactly where it happened
The street and the nearest cross street or ramp, plus any bus number or truck company name and USDOT number. That decides which agency has the report and which deadline applies.
Don't sign anything or give statements
Not to the other insurer, a trucking company, METRO or the city. Send those calls to us; we handle them.
